Event description
In celebration of Heritage Festival 2022, join local elder and proud D'harawal man for a unique tour of Steel Park and Cooks River.

About this event

Terry Lennis, a proud D'harawal man, local elder and Aboriginal horticulturalist will take you on a journey along one of the Inner West's special waterways.

The recent history of this area is well documented but this is an opportunity to hear the Indigenous perspective on the history and current uses of the rivers and waterways. The tour will take participants along Steel Park and the Cooks River.

Terry Lennis is one of the knowledge holders for the Midjuburi Ward.

Meeting point: Steel Park Waterplay Park.

There are three opportunities to take this tour:

  • Wednesday 4 May at 10am -12pm
  • Saturday 28 May at 10am - 12pm
  • Monday 30 May at 10am - 12pm

Update: Due to bad weather the session on 21 May has been moved to Saturday 28 May at 10am. If you have booked for this session you will be contacted by email. If you do not receive an email, contact history@innerwest.nsw.gov.au to retain your booking.
