About this Event
About the artists.
Bianca Levai and Amanda Radomi are Indigenous artists living and working on Kaurna Yerta (Adelaide).
Between them they have over 35 years' experience in the visual and performing arts, and education sectors. Bianca and Amanda are passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge regarding Aboriginal peoples, art, design and cultures across all age groups.
Join Indigenous artists Bianca Levai and Amanda Radomi for a painting workshop amongst their exhibition, We are Sovereign, currently showing at Black Diamond tattoo. Learn from the artists in a casual, relaxed setting about Aboriginal iconography. Where it comes from, who it belongs to, who makes it, and how to ‘read’ a painting containing iconography. The artists will explain the reasons why these icons belong to specific Aboriginal peoples, and why only these peoples can use these icons.
Participants will then be encouraged and assisted to create an artwork featuring their own unique icons- by designing symbols that represent things that are important, or express meaning to individual participants.
All materials, coffee, tea and light snacks provided.
This workshop is suitable for those aged 13 and over.
This workshop is possible through the support of The city of Port Adelaide/Enfield Council and Black Diamond Tattoo.
