Event description

Description

This workshop will include group work, storytelling and hands on art experience.

Unpack contemporary Indigenous cultures and identities and break down the prejudices against, and the discrimination faced by Indigenous people.

Coducted by Annette Sax - a Taungurung woman who has been operating Yarn Strong Sista, an Aboriginal education consultancy for 16 years - this workshop will challenge your existing beliefs and shift the way you think about Aboriginal culture and identity.

Annette is an Aboriginal storyteller, artist and illustrator of three children's books. She has 26 years experience in Aboriginal Childhood Education and uses art and her understanding of Aboriginal environmental knowledge to share Aboriginal Pedagogy within the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework.

The PhD research of Dr Sue Atkinson-Lopez, which focuses on Aboriginal teaching methods, will also be discussed.
