The Going Rural Health team invites all students and health professionals across medical, nursing and allied health disciplines in the Ballarat and Grampians region to participate in a Cultural Insight Experience Workshop.

Traditional Owner Bonnie Chew will conduct a cultural awareness session introducing students and staff to past and present Aboriginal Australia.

This session will give students and staff  an insight into the Aboriginal history in Australia and an opportunity to discuss meeting the health and well-being needs of today’s community in a meaningful and culturally appropriate manner.

STUDENTS: Please email Trish Thorpe at trish.thorpe@unimelb.edu.au for a link to book into this course for FREE.

Organiser Department of Rural Health

Organiser of Aboriginal Cultural Insight Experience - Virtual workshop, Part 1 of 2

The Department of Rural Health commenced on the 1st February 1999 and is in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne.

The Department of Rural Health provides professional health education and research training in a rural context. Based at Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley, we have major nodes at Ballarat and Wangaratta and associations with nearly 40 smaller towns in rural Victoria.

We offer an exciting range of multidisciplinary opportunities for undergraduate, postgraduate students and practicing health professionals.  Our success depends on support from our local community, especially the health care sector.

Partnerships with many agencies in the Shepparton, Ballarat and Wangaratta regions underpin our teaching and research.\
