Join one of Australia’s most highly regarded and respected Indigenous Elder and role models for the community, Lorraine Hatton OAM.

About this event

Hear first-hand perspective of one of Australia’s most highly regarded and respected Indigenous Elders and community role models, Lorraine Hatton OAM.

A Quandamooka woman from the Nunukul Ngugi tribe, Aunty Lorraine's story is one of personal determination and trailblazing achievement. Serving 20 years in the Australian Regular Army, and the first female Communications Manager in Afghanistan.

In 2019, Aunty Lorraine was awarded an Order of Australia for services to the Indigenous community, and in 2020, she was officially appointed as the Indigenous Elder of the Australian Army.

Educators and interested members of the public are invited via Zoom to meet Aunty Lorraine and experience her story in this free Anzac Square professional development session, as part of State Library of Queensland’s continuing commitment to research, discover and confirm Queensland Indigenous soldiers.

State Library of Queensland acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their continuing connection to land and as custodians of stories for millennia. We are inspired by this tradition in our work to share and preserve Queensland's memory for future generations.
