Event description

Description

We are delighted to be working with Dr Tricia Eadie and Dr Jane Page to deliver a workshop on the Abecedarian Approach Australia on Thursday 24 May at the Wheeler Centre. You will also hear from representatives of Hobsons Bay and Moonee Valley library services who will present on implementing the Abecedarian Approach in their organisations.

Our hope is that in providing you with information on the Abecedarian Approach you can investigate if this program will assist your library service to break this cycle of disadvantage. The Abecedarian Approach Australia is underpinned by research demonstrating positive outcomes, especially with vulnerable families. This model has the potential to support positive early literacy outcomes for children aged 0-3, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

With the growing interest in the Abecedarian Approach in Victorian public libraries, and the research conducted by Paula Kelly Paull in applying this methodology to breaking the cycles of disadvantage in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, we are excited to be providing this seminar.
