Event Details

For the fifth year, Austrade MENA in conjunction with the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT), State Governments, and the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry (AACCI) is bringing together a seminar program to provide insights on the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENA) region, which is focusing on economic transformation and diversification for its continued sustenance and growth.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations and Morocco remain stable and continue to be important export markets for Australia. Iran, Turkey, and Egypt provide enormous potential for Australian firms, particularly in the food and agriculture sector. Other economies, especially ones that have access to solid reserves of mineral resources, and are able to undertake development programs are being monitored for emerging opportunities.

Transformation in the region is being driven by embracing international partnerships and new technologies to deliver innovation in both the public and private sectors. Some of these will draw on Australia’s capabilities in mining, business and professional services, as well as financial services and health.

Transregional themes, such as food, mining and education, are becoming more evident as is the role that Dubai plays as a hub for Australian firms, for both logistics and for regional promotions and exhibitions.

The forthcoming seminars will focus on the above trends, current business scenario, future market potential, and more. The seminar program will entail presentations by:

- Australian Ambassadors to the MENA region:

  • Ms Berenice Owen-Jones - Australian Ambassador to Morocco
  • Mr Ian Biggs - Australian Ambassador to Iran

- Austrade Trade Commissioners to the MENA region:

  • Mr Gerard Seeber – Senior Trade Commissioner MENA, Consul General Dubai
  • Mr Mark Morley – Senior Trade Commissioner: Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt
  • Ms Anna Fedeles – Deputy Consul General and Trade Commissioner: Dubai

- State Government:

  • Mr John Butler - Commissioner to the Middle East, Africa & Turkey, Government of Victoria

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session. The formal part of the event will be followed by business networking over refreshments. There will be an opportunity to network with the Australian Ambassadors and Trade Commissioners who can help you identify the trade and investment prospects for your company in the MENA region.

We look forward to your early registration for this very popular event!
