Event description

Description

Imagine a 2030 world, where food is harvested in hospitals and landfill is a sought after commodity…

This is what you might expect when you collide CERN technology and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 12, Responsible Consumption and Production and spend 6 months doing experimental design innovation.

See how our students are accelerating tech-transfer for social impact at the inaugural A3 Challenge Based Innovation Showcase. We invite you to the showcase of two Design Factory Melbourne teams working in collaboration with IdeaSquare at CERN to propose applications of CERN technology that benefit society in the future for 2020, 2025 and 2030.

Team: ATMA
Solving e-waste through drone mapping and mining of minerals in landfill to fabricate the next generation personal devices that reduce e-waste via closed loop production.

Team: Dasein
Reducing food waste in hospitals and increasing patient care through the integration of nutrient patches and onsite harvesting of fresh produce.

Thursday 26th April, 5:45pm - 8:00pm
> 6:00-6.45pm: Presentations
> 6:45-8:00pm: Prototype Exhibition, nibbles and drinks

About A3:

A3 is a DFM initiative, developed for the Design Factory Global Network (DFGN), which builds on earlier Challenge Based Innovation (CBI) focused around using design innovation to develop outcomes that connect CERN technology with societal needs in a tangible way. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide the framework for the A3 program and guide the research to focus on areas of high sustainable impact. Porto Design Factory join Design Factory Melbourne to participate in this year's challenge.

About DFM:

Design Factory Melbourne operates at the intersection of university and industry, uniting students, academics, industry, researchers and community. On every DFM project we bring together an interdisciplinary team from across our network to lend their knowledge, skills and insights to diverse innovation challenges.
