A Witness to God’s Peace: A Jean Vanier Symposium
BBI – The Australian Institute of Theological Education is excited to be hosting a symposium exploring the life, writings and ministry of Jean Vanier, the founder of L’Arche and the 2015 Templeton Prize winner. During this symposium, participants will be enriched by the insights of Vanier on a series of questions relating to theological anthropology, the spiritual life, the Year of Mercy and how to “care for our common home” (Laudato si’). Each question will be engaged with, and contextualized by, an respondant. Participants will learn: how to think differently and more theologically about disability; what it means to belong rather than be merely included in a community; the centrality of friendship and hospitality in Christian ministry; and the value of taking time and being present.
