About this event
Working with natural plant materials and also man made and recycled materials to create woven and stitched baskets and sculptural forms. Available for any skill level from complete beginner to experienced. All materials will be supplied. Learn about harvesting and storing plant materials. If you have something you would like to include, like feathers, driftwood, beads and shells please bring along with you, but there will be materials to choose from. We will include many forms of basketry, random weave, twining and coiling. It will be introduction to many of the techniques, but you can also focus on one or two techniques for the weekend if you want to expand on them as you go. It will be tailored to what you want to learn, going at your own pace.
What you need to bring on the day.
Lisa will have everything on the day but you ,might like to consider the following list.
- Secateurs
- Apron
- A plastic bag and towel to wrap damp plant materials
- Any objects you may like to include such as beads, feathers, driftwood, shells and any wool, twines, threads, fabrics or plastics you might like to work with
- You will need to wear closed in shoes while working in the studio for work health/ safety reasons
- You will need to bring your own lunch.
