About this Event

If books reflect your mind and thoughts then my mind shows no single path of development and is more chaotic than ordered. I have loved and been fascinated by both the sciences and the arts and neither path of human endeavour or creativity has taken precedence. In later years I have found great joy in the study of philosophy and learned much from the Ancient Greek philosophers. And so, from Anne of Green Gables to Aristotle, from William Shakespeare to Charles Darwin, from Dorothy Hewett to Stephen Jay Gould, my mind has wandered and been nourished.

I began my working life working in laboratories and studying science at university, I then turned my working life to theatre and small publications, then on to arts administration and a dash of journalism and finally settled on family and studying, culminating in an intensive study in the field of philosophy of science.

Whilst working on my Master’s thesis I read a work by Hilary Kornblith and he succinctly asks two questions that describes my search for knowledge.

What is the world that we may know it? What are we that we may know the world? (Kornblith,H. (1993) Inductive Inference and its Natural Grounds, Cambridge: MIT Press.

I will expand more on my disordered reading in October.
