A Stolen Life : The Bruce Trevorrow Case
Event Information
About this Event
At this session Dr Antonio Buti explains how he came to tell the story of Bruce Trevorrow, the man at the centre of his new book, A Stolen Life.
Removed from his Indigenous family at just over one year old, Bruce was adopted into a white family without his parents’ knowledge.
Antonio’s new book explores the landmark court case that saw Bruce become the only member of the Stolen Generation to successful take on the State Government, and win compensation.
Dr Buti was educated at the University of Western Australia, Australian National University, Oxford University and Yale Law School. He is the Member for Armadale in the Western Australian Parliament.
Prior to his election to parliament in 2010 Dr Buti lectured in law at the University of Western Australia and has written publications on the removal of Aboriginal children from their families, British child migrants, guardianship law, drug testing in sport and sports law.
