A Planning Ombudsman - will it fix WA's Planning System?
Event Information
About this Event
The Liberal Party recently announced a plan to combat issues with the WA Planning System, The plan includes the creation of an independent Office of the Planning Ombudsman, for `restoring balance` to WA’s planning system to `make sure that it is fair, transparent and works in our long term interest`
Is an Ombudsman enough? can it work? will it have any teeth? - what about 3rd Party Appeal Rights? - is this a `plan` or is this Liberal Party policy? - can an ombudsman actually introduce procedural fairness or would it be doomed to become more window dressing?
We are confident that you have more questions than that, and community representatives and groups are invited to join us to hear stories outlining where and how the current planning system fails the community and what you think should be done about it.
We will hear stories from Scarborough, Karrinyup, Ocean Reef, Joondalup, Cottesloe and other communities directly affected by the lack of oversight of the current Planning System in perceived excesses of Local Government, DAP, DevelopmentWA, the WAPC/SDAU etc.
We will hear from the Hon Tjorn Simba on his plan to overhaul the Planning System, and of course we will hear from attendees in a Q&A session.
Attendance is free though places will be limited - those groups interested in attending should book here now.
