A Most Liveable City Walk (Open to Public)
Event Information
About this Event
“Eye opening. A humbling experience, reminding me how much I have to learn about society, and how much of an impact my life has on the world around me.” - Luke, 25
If you are interested in empathy, diversity and connection, or are curious about how COVID has affected some of Melbourne’s most vulnerable people, we are hosting a (COVID-safe) walk in the Melbourne CBD, sharing stories of the city that are rarely heard. More info below.
We call the walk "A Most Liveable City" and explore the question: liveable for whom?
What can we *really* do about homelessness and other issues that affect our society, and have been deeply exposed by COVID?
More content info is below.
We normally only provide these sessions to groups such as schools and corporate social responsibility teams - so this special series of public events is a unique opportunity for anyone to experience the city through different eyes
It's also a great way to support a small non-profit organisation in tough times! Registration is by (tax-deductible) donation.
Please share this event, you never know who might need to encounter The Intersection.
TELL ME MORE -----------
Melbourne is known as one of the world’s most liveable cities. With coffee, arts, footy, trams, and graffiti, what’s not to love?
1 in 10 of us will experience homelessness,
1 in 5 of us drink at harmful levels,
1 in 4 are lonely,
2 in 3 of us neither know or trust our neighbours...
and that was before the coronavirus and months of lockdown.
So, for whom is Melbourne really liveable?
How have some of the city’s most vulnerable been affected? What can we do to make Melbourne a place of empathy, diversity and connection for everyone?
Our experienced presenters will take you on a walking journey through different perspectives of our beloved city. As we move through different places in the CBD, we tell stories that are rarely heard, and invite your observations and reactions. We unpack themes of stereotyping, power, connection and empathy; and discuss issues such as homelessness, addiction, colonisation and disadvantage.
Where you STAND determines what you SEE
So come and see our city through different eyes.
This walk goes for approximately 90 minutes. Normally offered to schools and corporate groups with more than 12000 participants every year, this unique experience is now available to the general public for a limited time.

WHO CAN COME: 18+ only unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please note that the content is not suitable for younger than 14 years old.
