Event description

Description

As Asian-Australians living and working in Australia, there are many parts of our identities that may be different and unique from the larger Australian collective. This means there may be new identities we take on from interacting with the wider Australian community and identities we suppress (sometimes without even realising) because we feel others may not understand as we attempt to 'fit in'. This session is about reconnecting to your own authentic identity/ies, and understand what is important to you that makes up who you are as a whole.

Outcome

This session will help you:

  • rediscover your strengths, abilities, gaps and unique qualities and how they relate to your identity/ies.
  • gain clarity on what might block you from understanding your authentic self
  • gain clarity on how you can align your actions to your values, and allow your full self to shine.

Background

From the conversations at the recent Asian-Australian Leadership Summit co-convened by ANU, PwC and Asialink, we see an reoccurring theme that Asian-Australians are not seen at senior positions of leadership and influence within Australian institutions. Additionally from our own recent research titled Asian-Australian Leadership in Australia, the results show that Asian-Australians have complimentary skills compared to Australians. The problem is, however, Australian workplaces do not always recognise such skills as "leadership skills".

Many Asian-Australians desire to contribute to leadership in Australian institutions, and yet maintain their authenticity in doing so. To change Australian institutions will take decades and so in the interim, how do we equip Asian-Australians with the skills to contribute and play a leadership role to that change?

The A+ Influencers workshop series is created at an affordable price aim to help Asian-Australians to master leadership skills in an Australian context the authentic way and allow Asian-Australian natural behavioural preferences to shine at the same time.

Inclusiveness

Whilst this program has been designed specifically to target Asian-Australians, it is NOT exclusive. Non Asian-Australians who are drawn to the program are welcome to join.
