The Law & Justice Institute (Queensland) and College of Law invite you to the inspirational speaker series discussion in relation to diversity and the law.

ABC political journalist and commentator Annabel Crabb will explore the legal career of The Honourable Margaret McMurdo AC, former president of the Queensland Court of Appeal.

Margaret McMurdo AC was appointed president of the Queensland Court of Appeal in 1998, becoming the first female president of the appellate court.

After working as the first female paralegal at the Public Defender’s Office, McMurdo went on to serve as Acting Chief Justice in the Supreme Court of Queensland, as well as a judge in both the District Court and Children’s Court of Queensland.

Her accolades include being awarded the Centenary Medal in 2001, and in 2007 being appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia. In 2006 Her Honour was the recipient of the Agnes McWhinney award for outstanding professional contribution by a woman lawyer.
