About this Event

This multi-generational event is a chance for us to get together as a community, have some fun together, and think about community health & wellbeing

  • Live music from Meyers & McNamara (Cygnet Folk Festival, MONA, Dark Mofo and many more)
  • Delicious afternoon tea
  • Unlimited help-yourself tea/coffee/juice.
  • Bring along your favourite sweet treat to share - if possible something from your cultural background.
  • Children's Art Activity - draw a picture to show how you can be a good friend or a good neighbour.
  • Pebble painting - take your creations home!
  • A Scavenger Hunt.
  • Prizes for all children who take part. (All materials provided)
  • Circus Skills equipment, tennis & soccer totems, hula hoops....

The 2019 MHW theme, ‘We all have a role to play’, aims to encourage everyone to support each other in the community, and to look after and maintain their own mental health as they would their physical health.

Mental health issues affect more than one in five Australians every year, so it is important to encourage Tasmanian’s to stop and think about their mental wellbeing.

Mental Health Week creates an opportunity for people to think about the ways in which we can enhance our own and others social and emotional wellbeing by building resilience and support networks.

Those who are socially isolated, from minority groups (LGBTIQ, the elderley, people with disabilities, people of colour etc.) are at greater risk. Check in on a neighbour, check in on an elderly person - it can make all the difference.
