About this Event

A Science of Participation—exploring the mechanisms, impacts and outcomes of the participatory zeitgeist in healthcare design, delivery and improvement

Speaker: Associate Professor Victoria Palmer

What is all this business about a Participatory Zeitgeist you ask? In this presentation I talk about participation as the Zeitgeist of contemporary health care system improvement, re-design and transformation efforts. This draws on the myriad of ways that patients and professionals participate in healthcare from online communities, to health apps, the e-patient/e-professional movement, to involvement in quality improvement initiatives using participatory methods such as co-design and co-production. In this presentation I explore our need for a science of participation. I’ll talk about existing theoretical models, and practical examples of co-design and co-production that form the basis of building a science that can systematically evaluate, test, refine and advance participation in healthcare.

This is an online event which will be held on Zoom.
