A Celebration of the life of Karen Braes

Karen Louise Braes(nee Cosgrove) passed away peacefully Wednesday 12th May at home surrounded by her loving family.

Devoted wife of Tom, mother of Tracey, Michelle, Amy and Kristy. Grandmother to Ava, Ashlyn, Aubrey, Aiden, Quinn and Ashley. Sister of Bill, Tina and Patricia, Aunt to many, and true friend to those who knew her. Mother-in-law to Craig Beikoff, Darren Rafter, Aaron Brewer, and Jim Butler.

The Relatives and Friends of Karen, Tom, and Families, Lions, Lioness, Pictionettes, Mahjong ladies, Highly Strung Ukulele group, and staff from the DPI and Magistrates Courts are respectfully invited to attend the FUNERAL of their Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt, and friend Karen Louise Braes which will commence at 10.00 am TUESDAY MORNING 18TH May, 2021 at ROYALS CHURCH, 9 Park Avenue Mareeba.

The service commences at 10:00 am, with time allocated from 9:00 am for attendees to pay their personal respects to Karen. The cortege will then proceed to the Mareeba Lawn Cemetery.

Karen asks you wear colourful clothes and in lieu of flowers donations to Australian Ovarian Cancer Council; Blue Care or Lions Medical Research Foundation are welcomed.

Booking Process

This booking process will allow you to:

1. Book to attend Karen's funeral on Tuesday, 18 May at 10am at Royals Church; and
2. Book to attend Karen's wake to be held at the Mareeba Memorial Bowls Club after the completion of the ceremony at the Mareeba Lawn Cemetery.

***Please take care to ensure you have entered a number into the dropdown box for the funeral as well as the wake if you intend to attend both. ***

Venue Limits

The capacity of the venues is as follows:

1. Royals Church, 9 Park Avenue, Mareeba

The venue includes indoor seating (280 seats), outdoor seating (120 seats) and uncovered standing room outside of the venue.

All are welcome (if registered) however, we respectfully request that once seats are filled inside the Church seats are then filled outside. As we are adhering to a 2sqm spacing, capacity inside is defined by the available seating.

Upon arrival, attendees can select their preferred option noting that there is no standing room inside – once seats are filled inside, attendees will be required to sit or stand outside. If you intend to stand outside, we recommend that you bring a hat or umbrella.

2. Mareeba Lawn Cemetery

Outdoor event - no limit to attendee numbers.

3. Mareeba Bowls Club

QLD Check-In app required.

Guest numbers are limited to 200 due to COVID restrictions. Bookings are requested to assist the family to manage catering numbers.
