I cannot recommend this workshop highly enough, the closeness it knitted between myself and my daughter has supported an ongoing dialogue about bodies since then, which has been so invaluable - Hermione

Extend your thanksgiving weekend, making it one you and your daughter will cherish forever, by sharing 'A Celebration day for girls' together on Friday October 11th

The program is designed to support girls and mothers at this special threshold in both their lives, to provide an affirming, grounded and connected celebration of the journey to womanhood.

In the one day workshop girls, and their accompanying adult, enjoy lively discussion, fun activities, and hear women's experiences of menarche (first period) and growth into womanhood.

Menarche signifies the beginning of a girl’s fertile years and the menstrual cycle is an intrinsic aspect of being a woman for nearly half of her life. For many girls this is a time of embarrassment, anxiety and mixed messages about what it means to be a girl in a maturing female body.

However, extensive research has shown that for young girls who experience menarche well prepared, with a positive introduction and emotional support, the result is higher self-esteem, fewer negative cycle related symptoms, favorable overall menstrual perception and easier subsequent births.

By celebrating menarche we give a profound message to girls that this process within her body is important and valuable, and so is she, as she learns to inhabit and navigate her changing status through her teenage years.

The Girl’s Celebration Day facilitated and led by Rachel Pilgrim that I attended was a revelation for both myself and my daughter. We had already begun our discussion around puberty, but this gave us the starting point for going deeper and building an understanding and a closeness around what is sometimes unfortunately still a taboo topic. We laughed together, were entertained and moved by stories from others in the group and emerged from the day feeling deeply connected to one another, particularly in our identification with our own bodies and respect for each others bodies - Hermione

If you are seeking to deepen the connection with your daughter, supporting her into her fertile years & beyond, enabling her to grow into a confident young woman, in her body, mind, & spirit, this workshop is for you!
