Event description
A Boy Named Cash Time Machine New Year's Eve Concert

About this event

Come and experience a magical evening under the stars, with a live concert on the outdoor stage at The Mundaring Hotel, in the heart of Mundaring in The Perth Hills!

Back by popular demand, The Mundaring Hotel is proud to bring you Monty Cotton and his 'A Boy Named Cash - Time Machine' New Year's Eve Concert.

For one night only, ticket-holders will be treated to a unique performance from Monty Cotton and his band, as they pay homage to the legendary Johnny Cash, along with other country music's finest musicians from over the years. Not only will you get a taste of the nostalgic, Monty incorporates cleverly intertwined modern-day party classics that pluck you from your seat, twirl you around & keep you on the dance floor a lot longer than intended!

However, this is no ordinary event and for those who've witnessed this likesome character in action, be prepared for an unexpected twist. For this inaugural performance, be transfixed as A Boy Named Cash (young Johnny) transforms into local legend Fenton Oldmeadow (mature Cash) part-way through the show! A double whammy of musical talent, as the crowd is seamlessly transported through time & relive the best moments in the life of the 'Man in Black', with an hour of Johnny Cash power hits. As Cash once said himself: "Sometimes I am two people. Johnny is the nice one. Cash causes all the trouble. They fight." What could possibly go wrong?!

As the night progresses the tempo steps up a notch, with the band playing all your favourite dance tunes, with the addition of Monty's other special guest, Daniel Drieberg - The Fiddler. Who doesn't like a good fiddle?! These days you rarely see this instrument played properly; don't miss a chance to see this virtuoso in action!

A sensational night jam-packed with musical classics from over the years, with a fair dose of double bass from Dario Jiritano and Vassya Schevtsov on drums, you'll be wondering which decade you're in!

The concert starts at 7pm with duo act 'Table for Two' playing a few favourites to warm up the crowd before handing over the stage to Monty and his band for A Boy Named Cash Show. The show will then run until midnight with Monty counting us all into the 2022 !

An event that is suitable for all ages, bring your friends & family and come along and enjoy outdoor food options from our Flaming BBQ Pit & Homemade Jambalaya, a selection of delicious meals from the A La Carte Menu, and beverages from the outdoor & indoor bars!

More about Monty Cotton:

As a seasoned performer and musician, Monty woke up one day and realised he could imitate Johnny Cash! This launched his career as he toured across Australia at pubs, clubs, shopping centres, arts festivals, mine sites, private functions, and preformed on radio, morning television and 'The Voice' Australia.

As a full-time accountant from Sydney, Monty dreamt of becoming a rock n’ roll superstar. For the past 10 years Monty has spent weekends escaping the city to support cover bands as a guitarist, drummer, pianist, bass player, backing singer and more. By chance he auditioned for Australian Idol in 2009 and reached the top 40, narrowly missing out on the top 24. Inspired by this, and success in subsequent local talent competitions, Monty began to chase a solo career as a songwriter and to showcase his rich, deep voice.

Tickets prices: $20 each. Children under 16 years FREE.
