Description

A Basket by the Door by Sophie Hansen

On Wednesday 15 May, author, blogger, farmer and cook Sophie Hansen will be joining us for the Melbourne launch of her new book: A Basket by the Door.

A Basket by the Door: recipes for comforting gifts & joyful gatherings is a book filled with the essence of country hospitality, community, neighbours, and country living; a reminder of what is best about our local communities and friends.

With fresh, comforting food and stunning photography, it is simply - a book that is good for the soul.

Nothing says 'I love you, I've got you and I'm here' better than a parcel of food you've taken the time to make, wrap and deliver. As our lives become busier and more urban it is easy to lose contact with our communties. In A Basket by the Door, Sophie Hansen has provided us with a roadmap for sharing and giving to our loved ones; to connecting and reconnecting over food and kitchen tables.

Organised seasonally, A Basket by the Door provides 130 recipes to cook for loved ones who might be moving house, busy with a newborn, celebrating a milestone, recovering after illness, grieving, or just in need of a little love and appreciation.

The delicious recipes (an eclectic but lovely mix of classic, country and and contemporary food ) include delights such as an easy bundle of fresh dips and lavosh biscuits to take along to drinks, a portable breakfast to surprise a friend, a sturdy picnic cake and sandwiches in a basket for lunch (even in the office), a comforting ragu and chocolate mousse to enjoy while wallowing on the sofa, as well as ideas to take when invited for dinner or a weekend away.

If that doesn't tempt you then how about Apple, Fennel & Pork Sausage Rolls or a Chicken Pie; a classic country sponge or a Syrup-soaked Lemon, Blueberry and Rosemary Cake? Venison Shepherd's Pie anyone?

Please join us for what will be a wonderfully warm and rewarding evening. As always, we'll be tasting a few recipes as well as chatting to Sophie over a glass of wine or two.
