Event description

Welcome to our 2017 Law For Community Workers series - use this link to book if you want to attend this session IN PERSON (use the other link if you would like to attend via webcast).

The Law for Community Workers series is aimed at providing community workers with an understanding of key areas of law and legal procedures that are relevant for their clients. The sessions also provide information about community legal resources, and community legal advice and legal assistance services - enabling community workers to make timely, appropriate referrals for legal advice and legal assistance, and to support their clients in navigating the legal system.

Session Description

“The NDIS for Community Workers” : As the NDIS rolls out your clients will be making applications and in some cases seeking to challenge decisions regarding their right to participate in the NDIS. This session will cover basic principles about the purpose and scope of the scheme and the processes, principles and key organisations involved in considering appeals about a person’s eligibility for the scheme, or the extent of the support available to them. We will cover options for referrals when seeking legal advice about these issues.
