Event description

Description

SAM has been collecting art for 80 years, and you’re invited to celebrate with us at the launch of our publication!

From 3.30pm, you’ll be greeted with a friendly welcome, and if you’re keen, a free fun pack to go on the 80/80 Trail. There’ll be prizes, an opportunity to purchase past exhibition catalogues, and balloons for those who love them!

3.30 to 4.30pm: Meet some of the SAM staff and Friends of SAM as they share thoughts on a favourite artwork in SAM’s permanent Collection. This will be very accessible for all ages, in particular, families.

4.30 to 5.30pm: Hear Associate Professor Alison Inglis from The University of Melbourne and local Yorta Yorta artist Aunty Vera Cooper talk about their respective research and art practice.

5.30 to 6.30pm: Celebrate 80 years of SAM’s Collection with a drink or two at the launch of our publication. Opening remarks by Associate Professor Alison Inglis, Art History, School of Culture and Communication, The University of Melbourne. The publication will be on sale for $20 at the launch, and for $25 thereafter (Friends of SAM $20).
