Event description

Description

The 5th annual OI Postgraduate Forum will be held this year in the auditorium of the brand new Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre (IOMRC).This year's theme is "Inspiring multidisciplinary research for better preservation of our oceans" in the spirit of the multidisciplinary essence of the Ocean Institute.

Student presentations encompass the breadth of research done at the Oceans Institute and will be presented in both formal and speed-talk formats. Each sesson will showcase research from the different Faculties represented by the Oceans Institute. Come and share in the research of the Oceans Institutes' Postgraduates!

Attendees will have the privilege to learn from Dr. Luke Twomey from the Western Australia Marine Science Institution (WAMSI) who will be the keynote speaker for the symposium.

This year, a networking activity (round table) between the students and some young and senior academics will be organised to promote the multi-disciplinarity of marine science.

The day will be filled with student presentations, morning tea, and lunch.

The Symposium will close with a Sundowner from 5:00pm - 6:30pm in the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre Lobby. It will be a great way to catch up with friends and colleagues as well as expand on new connections forged during the Symposium. Everyone is invited to stick around.
