Facilitated by: Professor Caroline Smith (Dean, Graduate Studies) and Emma Taylor (Mental Health Coordinator, Student Services)

This interactive workshop will aim to assist supervisors in recognising the mental health and wellbeing needs experienced by HDR students.

The significance of self-care, recognising the complexity of students’ needs whilst also managing the professional boundaries of the supervisory relationship, and maintaining the ethics and safety of the process will be explored.

The workshop will cover;

- how supervisors may perceive their role in supporting the wellbeing and mental health of HDR students?

- mental health literacy, awareness raising specific to the students experience, & available WSU support services and how students can access them,

- communication strategies to support the HDR candidate

- maintaining the mental health & wellbeing of supervisors in the supervisory relationship.
