Description

The 5000meals team would like to invite you to a series of workshops for 2020.

The aim is to provide you with the opportunity to build networks, find inspiration, develop activities for the classrooms that promote advocacy in our subject area.

Our theme for this series of workshops is Creating Community Connections. We are featuring topics around homelessness, food relief in WA, surplus, food systems, various food bowls and much more. Our aim is to provide keynote speakers, amazing WA chefs and professional industry leaders who will share inspiring stories and resources that will translate to providing opportunities to engage with the community.

Tasks and mapping to courses include but not limited to- CFC, Food Science, VET and Community Services, canteens and volunteers.

This is the first- in the series: see the keynote speakers outlined below, also includes demonstrations, and activities. Workshop packages will be given out on the day.

These workshops meet the Teacher Registration requirements, Aitsl standards.

Certificate & tax invoice issued on completion of workshops.




  • WACOSS- DR Jenni Gray and

Discussion on the world leading WA Food relief Framework launched 2019.





  • Underground Collborative- Inspiring story of Katie Liew. Transforming members in the community using the philosophy of providing employment and housing solutions to the break the cycle of homelessness.





  • 5000meals program- Donated and surplus food, students are mentored by chefs and work together to produce high quality, nutritious and delicious meals that are then donated to people facing homelessness. The program aims to build links between students and the Hospitality Industry, allowing students to develop relevant industry skills, reduce food wastage and assist people in need within the Perth community.

  • Back 2 Basic- Donated chef jackets from a leading Perth Venue. This real life event, has stimulated inspiring tasks to support Up-cycling.
