‘Reflections on 50 Years of Living in Marrickville’
About this event
Join Local Historian Richard Cashman give an engaging presentation on living in Marrickville. Co-author of the Marrickville History publications Rural Outpost to inner City and Marrickville People and Places.
Marrickville became a working-class suburb in the 20th century. Cheap housing also attracted immigrants after 1945, notably the Greeks and later the Vietnamese. As a result, Marrickville became a more interesting and diverse place. With their proximity to the city and good housing stock, Marrickville and Petersham have again become a favourite and expensive place to live.
