What is included in my conference ticket ?

Your conference ticket includes:

  • Tuesday 16th September 2019 -Welcomes Cocktail Reception - Including canapes and drinks. Hosted on the beautiful Garden Terrace of the Sofitel Hotel, you will be able to rekindle friendships and meet new friends as you celebrate the start of the 4th World Congress on Probation.

  • 17th and 18th September 2019 - Two Day Conference- focussing on showcasing best practice in probation selected keynote speakers, both international and local who are identified as leading in their field of Probation and Parole. The World Conference will have a focus on evidence based strategies and practice in the management of offenders in the community. This will enable speakers to cover broad offender management strategies as well as the more unique and targeted interventions for sex offenders or terrorist based offenders. To make the World Congress on Probation a successful forum it is hoped that participants from all fields, including Justice, Academia, Policy Makers, Law, Police, Social Welfare and Victims Groups will be attending and sharing their insight into this challenging goal.


  • 17 September 2019 - Conference Dinner - Luna Park Sydney - Allow yourself to be transported by an iconic Sydney Ferry to the canival atmosphere of Sydney's Luna Park. Be greeted by the stilt walkers as you enter through the gaping mouth entrance. Take a ride on the ferris wheel to capture unbelievable views of the Sydney Harbour then walk down the red carpet to the magnificent Crystal Ballroom that boasts uninterupted views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The dinner will include a three course meal and hand picked Australian wine and other beverages. You will also be treated to a variety of entertainment celebrating our Australian culture.

Can I submit a paper for the conference?

A call for papers and abstracts will be made in February 2019. Papers submitted will subject to selection based on topics relating to the theme of the World Conference. Updates will be communicated on the NSW Justice webpage.

Study Tours:

Study tours will be conducted on Friday 19 September 2019. These tours are available for all non NSW residents. Closer to the date you will be able to nominate preferences for your study tour. You will be provided transport from the Sofitel Wentworth to the study tour and returned to the hotel. Study tours will focus on pathways for reintegration for example Transitional Housing for females, preparing an inmate for pre release, Education and Industry training in correctional centres, workings of a community corrections office and partnerships with non government organisations.

What Accommodation is available?

The conference is will be held at the Sofitel Wentworth Hotel. This 5 star luxery hotel is located in the heart of the Sydney CBD, Opera House and the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens.

A conference rate has been negotiated with the hotel. For your stay during your time in Sydney, you can book:

  • Classic King - Aus $310

  • Superior King - Aus $350

The room rate includes breakfast daily in the Garden Court restaurant and wi fi. At the time of booking please use the conference code of DOC160919.

There are also many other hotel, hostel, Airbnb, serviced apartment options close to the conference site.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Sofitel Wentworth is located in the centre of the Sydney Central Business District.

The hotel is easily accessible by taxi, bus or train. A train can be taken from both the Domestic or International airport to Wynyard Station or change trains for Martin Place.

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is able to offer an abundance of car parking at preferential rates. Specially discounted parking rate for conference delegates at $53.00 per car, per day for the entire duration
of your event. Delegates staying overnight can also enjoy a preferential rate of $55.00 per car, per night. The car park is located at the Bligh Street entrance and spaces are subject to availability.
