Welcome to our 2017 Law For Community Workers series - use this link to book if you want to attend via WEBCAST (use the other link if you would like to attend in person).

The Law for Community Workers series is aimed at providing community workers with an understanding of key areas of law and legal procedures that are relevant for their clients. The sessions also provide information about community legal resources, and community legal advice and legal assistance services - enabling community workers to make timely, appropriate referrals for legal advice and legal assistance, and to support their clients in navigating the legal system.

Session Description

“Credit and Debt Issues for Community Workers” : Consumer credit is a wide topic, ranging from home loans to credit cards and payday loans. This seminar will provide an overview of the law relating to consumer credit, including the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth), the National Credit Code, the Debt Collection Guidelines, dispute processes, and referral options for your clients to manage problem debts, or deal with consumer credit disputes.
