Event description
WARP is more than just robots! Start a team, support a team, cheer along - be part of the action!

About this event

IMPORTANT NOTE

  • This ticket registration is for spectators, for both days.
  • You do NOT need to register separately for either day.

What is WARP?: Teams of robot alliances play a tough and strategic game with strict rules but a free-flowing style. This is a FIRST Robotics Competition off-season event.

When: Saturday and Sunday, 27-28 August, 2022

Saturday: 7:00 am- 6:00pm. Set up, practise and share. The first half of the day is set up, meet all the other teams and share ideas, strategies, do all that last-minute work you didn't quite finish and practise your skills. The second half of the day is the start of the competition.

Sunday: 8:00 am- 6:00pm. Game on! Your team will rotate through different alliances with other teams, learning how to get the best out of your robot and the collaboration with others. The final games will be with set alliances, and may the best robot teams win! (Formal rules for the 2021 challenge can be found here - 2022 rules will be uploaded when released in early Jan 2022) For a simple animated version of the 2021 game, view here.

Where: Curtin University Stadium, Kent Street, Bentley

Who: The teams competing are 13-18 years old - schools, local community groups or groups of friends. The audience can be ANYONE!

Team Registration: Registration via the US FRC Portal is US$6000 for a Rookie Team, US$5000 for non-Rookie Teams, teams wanting a pre-rookie experience of the competition without formal registration - please contact Curtin STEM Outreach directly for more information about purchasing basic kits and assistance in getting started (costs around AUD$5000).

For Regional teams: Are you a team from a regional/rural area? Accommodation is available on campus at Curtin. A three-night stay (fri/sat/sun) would be the best option, approx $1100 for a team of 6, $1400 for a team of 8. Costs are detailed here.
