2022 Swinburne Annual Reconciliation Lecture
About this event
Swinburne University of Technology and the National Centre for Reconciliation Practice is delighted to welcome Commissioner Sue-Anne Hunter, Deputy Chair Yoorrook Justice Commission, to deliver the 2022 Swinburne Annual Reconciliation Lecture on Thursday 28 July.
Commissioner Hunter is a proud Wurundjeri and Ngurai Illum Wurrung woman currently holding the titles of Deputy Chair and Commissioner with the Yoorrook Justice Commission.
The Yoorrook Justice Commission is the first formal truth-telling body for First Peoples in Australia. Yoorrook was established as a Royal Commission to hear, record and address the truths about First Peoples’ experiences of colonisation in Victoria since 1788.
Yoorrook is a historic opportunity for both First Peoples and other Victorians to finally listen to each other and create a new story together. Together with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Victorians, we will create a path that leads to truth, understanding and transformation and build a shared understanding of our history.
