Event description
Curate your 2021 Vision using collage with Rachel Monique Walker!

About this Event

“With scissors, paper and glue a whole new world begins” is the motto of Meanjin based artist Rachel Monique Walker and you’ll see why when you join us for a collage workshop that invites you to cut out the old and create a new vision for the year ahead.

Join us after dark at MoB in a deeply reflective workshop where catharsis meets collage and help visualise your aspirations for 2021 through creativity and self-expression. Meditate on the past and manifest the future over a glass of bubbles in this 90-minute all-inclusive workshop that is perfect for all abilities.

In this intimate class, Rachel will teach your how to design, layer and create multi-dimensional vision boards that are not only uniquely beautiful but deeply personal, all set against the beautiful backdrop of our museum at night.

About Rachel Monique Walker

Rachel Monique Walker is a Meanjin based artist and creative workshop facilitator. She assists individuals and groups to unlock their creativity using paper collage. With her collaborators she offers an ever growing variety of collage workshops including vision boards, abstract collage, children’s workshops and collage meets augmented reality.

In her solo practice Rachel considers belonging, neighbourhood place-based identity, chit chat and quotidian poetry, making analogue and digital collage worlds from the discards of marketing and gentrification culture. With colourful magazine paper she makes delicate, detailed works which at times resemble paintings.

She is currently working with a collective of international collage artists brought together by the Kolaj Institute in Burlington, Vermont to explore new possibilities for collage curation. Her textile work recently featured in RSM Arts Collective’s HWY Live activation Longer Tables, Not Higher Fences, a collaboration between people currently or previously held in indefinite detention and local artists in Meanjin/Brisbane.
