Sit back, relax and enjoy a lavish, candle-lit feast in your own private dining room at The Grounds of Alexandria!

About this event

Escape the humdrum of the day and share a decadent feast with your family and friends in The Lock In! Tucked away behind The Potting Shed, this unique space, which is adorned with rich furnishings, a fireplace and loads of interesting trinkets, is one of The Grounds' best kept secrets.



On Arrival

  • Olive and pickle pot.
  • Rosemary focaccia with cultured butter, ricotta and lemon oil.


  • Red braised beef tacos with artichoke, fresh habanero, green beans and corn salsa.
  • Chargrilled Skull Island tiger prawns with sesame aioli and ginger vinegar (GF).
  • Fennel, peach and roast zucchini burrata with chilli and mint (GF / DF on request).


  • Casarecce pasta with braised eggplant and cherry tomato ragout, sweetcorn, goats curd, pine nuts and capers.
  • Pan roasted whole snapper with lemon herb, caper butter and cauliflower puree.
  • Spiced roasted lamb rump with a date Fattoush salad, minted labneh, sumac and lemon vinaigrette (DF / GF).


  • Heirloom tomatos, buffalo mozzarella, pickled chillies and onions (GF).
  • Charred pumpkin with chive crème fraîche, caramelised pepitas, maple and green herbed oil crumbed feta (GF).
  • Chips served with Shed burger sauce.


  • Pastry Chef's selection dessert tasting board.

Tickets are available for $89 each (+ booking fees). Please note that a minimum of 6 tickets must be purchased for each session.



  • Please ensure that you purchase a ticket for each person in your group in one transaction. Unfortunately, additional seats cannot be added on the day.
  • All bookings must be made at least 30-hours in advance.
  • Once booked, your group will have exclusive use of The Lock In at The Grounds of Alexandria for 2-hours (6:30pm - 8:30pm).
  • Private dinners in The Lock In will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • All dishes will be plated to share.
  • Drinks can be purchased from the menu on the day.
  • Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your session start time and visit The Potting Shed Host Desk to be seated.
  • The set menu and venue styling is subject to change without notice.
  • No candles or tableware is to be taken after your experience has ended. Charges may apply for missing items.
  • As we have limited sessions, any requests for refunds must be made at least 7-days prior to your session. Refund requests made within 7-days of your booking will not be considered.



Q. What if I want to book a private dinner for fewer than 6 guests?

A. That's fine - you'll still need to purchase tickets for a min. of 6 guests, but you'll get to take home any food that you don't eat!

Q. Can I book a private dinner for more than 10 guests?

A. Please contact The Grounds on 02 9699 2225 as we may be able to accommodate your group.

Q. Can the menu be adjusted to accommodate specific dietary requirements?

A. Specific dishes on the menu are gluten-free and/or dairy-free, but unfortunately the menu cannot be adjusted to cater for other dietary requirements. Please read the menu carefully before booking.
