A Bespoke, Luxury Writers Retreat Like No Other!

We're very excited to announce that in 2020, the Sunshine Writers Retreat will be undergoing a SEA CHANGE! We've moved our venue for the 2020 retreat to the stunning coastline of the Sunshine Coast.

The Ramada Resort at Marcoola will be hosting us over three-and-a-half glorious days. Delegates will be able to enjoy all the facilities the resort has to offer, as well as indulging in beach walks and fine dining. Mixed in with that will be our Writing Masterclasses with some of Australia's premier, best-loved authors, solo and group Writing Time, and our popular Story Circles Feedback Sessions. There's also an onsite spa for massages and facials, a gym, and a stunning resort-style pool. Residential and Day Visitor Packages available.

For 2020, we have a superlative mix of the best authors and presenters in Australia, who will take us through our paces during the masterclasses. The retreat suits authors of all stages and all genres as the skills imparted in the masterclasses are ubiquitous to all forms of writing.

In this incredible seaside writers retreat experience, you'll enjoy 3.5 days on the gorgeous Sunshine Coast in 4-star resort accommodation with direct access to Marcoola Beach. The venue is located close to the Sunshine Coast Airport, so it's quick and easy to get to if you're flying in from interstate.

Spend time networking, sharing, learning, soaking up the sea air, being inspired and motivated to create. You'll love this retreat so much, you'll never want to go home!

We'll have our usual masterclasses, networking dinners, yoga/meditation sessions, pop-up bookstore, fun trivia quiz, and second-hand book swap. Plus, our super popular Story Circle feedback sessions return where you can read your work out to gain crucial, constructive feedback from Aleesah Darlison and other retreat attendees. We also have a presentation opportunity for delegates on Sunday afternoon during our SWR Success Platform session, and some new optional activities like karaoke and dancing.

Best of all - and perhaps the single-most valuable thing for authors - is the time we've set aside for you to write or edit your manuscript. You have the option of doing this in your own room, within the resort, by the pool, in the cafe, on the beach, or in our conference room with other delegates in a joint creativity session. The choice is yours! Every writer draws inspiration from different sources and locations, so make sure you explore the surrounds to find your inspirational writing place.

Residential Package Options & Inclusions

We have two options for Residential Delegates:

Option 1: Resident Delegate - Private (Single Supplement) Accommodation

Private OCEAN VIEW HOTEL ROOM with ensuite. Includes 3 days of Masterclasses, Story Circles and all meals. Paying delegate can bring non-attending partner FREE OF CHARGE with accommodation included. No meals or masterclasses for partner. Partner will have full use of resort facilities including pool, gym, grounds, etc. (Ocean Views, Balcony, Queen Bed, Tea/Coffee Facilities.)

Option 2: Resident Delegate - Twin Share Accommodation
Sharing a 2-BEDROOM APARTMENT with another paying retreat attendee. Includes 3 days of Masterclasses, Story Circles and all meals. NO ADDITIONAL PARTNERS. These apartments can only be shared with another retreat attendee. Each delegate will have their own bedroom and bathroom in the apartment. (Full Kitchen, Dining Room, 2 Bathrooms, 1 Queen Bed & 2 Single Beds, plus Balcony or Patio.)

$1890 inc GST Single Supplement in an Ocean View Hotel Room (can share accommodation free with non-attending partner)

Not included:
Flights and transfers to and from the retreat. The Ramada by Wyndham Marcoola Beach is 5 minutes by car from the Sunshine Coast Airport. Taxis are readily available for this trip.
Alcohol – please BYO or purchase at the venue if you would like to enjoy a wine at night.

Day Visitor Pass Options & Inclusions

A handful of Day Visitor Passes are available for the Sunshine Writers Retreat. These passes are kept to a strictly limited supply to ensure an intimate and exclusive experience for attendees. Allocations are on a first in, first served basis and places cannot be held without payment. These passes cover the three days of the retreat when the Masterclasses will be delivered, that is Friday 13 - Sunday 15 November inclusive.

As a Day Visitor, you can choose to attend single days (Friday, Saturday OR Sunday) or you can choose to attend all three days with the 3 Day Pass. Discounts apply for multiple days purchased.

On each day you purchase a Day Visitor Pass for, you'll enjoy all masterclasses and delicious morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas (from 9am – 6pm). You can also purchase Manuscript Assessment Meetings for Friday, just as our Residential delegates have. You can book in for an Assessment Meeting for Friday and attend as a Day Visitor on a different day.

2 Masterclasses over 2 days, 3 hours of Guided Writing Time in our Conference Room over 2 days, 2 Story Circles Feedback Sessions (Fri and/or Sat), SWR Success Platform Presentation Opportunity (Sun). Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea over 2 days.

1 Day Visitor Pass = $420 inc. GST
1 Masterclass, 3 hours of Guided Writing Time in our Conference Room, Story Circles Feedback Session (Fri or Sat), SWR Success Platform Presentation Opportunity (Sun). Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea.

Manuscript Assessment Meetings
will take place on Friday with Kristina Schulz, former UQP Publisher and Industry Professional. Cost is $98 per manuscript and meetings run for 15 minutes. You can book an Assessment Meeting without booking as a Day Visitor or Resident.
