Escape the humdrum of the day and share a decadent feast with your family and friends in The Lock-In! Tucked away behind The Potting Shed, this unique space, which is adorned with rich furnishings, a fireplace and loads of interesting trinkets in one of The Grounds' best kept secrets.

MENU

On Arrival

  • Marinated olive and pickle pot.
  • Herbed olive oil and sea salt bread.
  • A beer, glass of house wine or soft drink.

Starters

  • Caramelised butternut pumpkin with zaatar, maple syrup, cashew hummus, sesame flatbread.
  • Steamed mussels with salted black beans, chilli and a green onion pancake.
  • Steamed buns with fried chicken, pickled red cabbage, turnip and XO aioli.

Mains

  • Andean sunrise gnocchi with roasted Brussels sprouts, caramelised pecans, pecorino and thyme brown butter.
  • Braised lamb shank with cipollini onions, soft herbed polenta, capers and salsa verde (GF).
  • Gremolata crumbed fillets of silver dory with hand cut chips and chunky tartare sauce (DF).

Sides

  • Roasted sweet potato with maple pistachio and goat's cheese (GF).
  • Garden salad with baby cos, cherry tomatoes, red onion and lemon vinaigrette (GF / DF).
  • Fried cauliflower with parmesan and chive aioli.

  • Pastry chef's selection dessert tasting board.

BOOKINGS

Tickets are available for $79 each (+ booking fees). Please note that a minimum of 6 tickets must be purchased for each session.

Bringing your own cake to celebrate a special occasion? Great! Please be aware that a cakeage fee of $3 (+ booking fees) per person will apply and you can add this to your booking as part of the checkout process.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Please ensure that you have a ticket for each person in your group in one transaction. Unfortunately, additional seats cannot be added on the day.
  • All bookings must be made at least 30-hours in advance.
  • Once booked, your group will have exclusive use of The Lock-In at The Grounds of Alexandria for 2-hours.
  • Private dinners in The Lock-In are only available Wednesdays - Sundays and will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • All dishes will be plated to serve.
  • Additional drinks can be purchased from the menu on the day.
  • Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your session start time and visit The Potting Shed Host Desk to be seated.
  • Styling is subject to change without notice.
  • No candles or tableware is to be taken after your experience has ended. Charges may apply for missing items.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What if I want to book a private dinner for fewer than 6 guests?

A. That's fine - you'll still need to purchase tickets for a min. of 6 guests but you'll get to take home any food that you don't eat!

Q. Can I book a private dinner for more than 10 guests?

A. No, at this stage we can only comfortably seat a max. of 10 guests in The Lock-In.

Q. Can the menu be adjusted to accommodate specific dietary requirements?

A. Specific dishes on the menu are gluten-free and/or dairy-free, but unfortunately the menu cannot be adjusted to cater for other dietary requirements. Please read the menu carefully before booking.
