Event description

Description

Dr Roger Sexton AM, Chairman of Beston Global Food Company Ltd and Chairman of the Board of Patrons of the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men's Health (FFCMH) invites you to join other representatives of the South Australian business community for the 2019 SA Men's Health Business Breakfast.

In keeping with the theme of previous breakfasts, the focus will be on mental health. Three million Australians are living with anxiety or depression. Nearly 9 people lose their life to suicide each day and 7 of those are men. In the workplace, one in five employees each year take time off due to mental health-related illness costing Australian businesses approximately $10.9 billion per year and this doesn't factor in a loss of productivity whilst at work.

This year we will keep it local and hear from South Australian, Anthony Hart, a social entrepreneur and mental health ambassador, and a successful businessman building an eight store PETstock business with his family.

As leaders of business and as a business community, we know what it takes to drive change, how to leverage opportunities and how to remove barriers in order to be successful. The causes of poor mental health are complex and multifactorial, demanding a multi-faceted approach. As a business community we can contribute meaningfully to this approach.

Anthony transformed his own mental health crises into a new opportunity. He harnessed his business acumen to decode the basic steps he used to recover from depression and devise strategies to actively measure his healing journey. As a result, he founded the LIFEBACK TRACKER – 4 Steps to Better Mind Health Program.

Anthony is collaborating with SA businesses to offer this program for workforces, helping to build a culture that recognises vulnerability and encourages open communication.

I acknowledge InDaily as the media sponsor for the Breakfast.
