Event description

Description

Cassablanca, in conjunction with Adelaide Dance Parlour, AAPC and The British Hotel, is thrilled to again present this fabulous contest as part of the annual Port Rocks festival!

This page provides the basic information to help you plan your entry, however if you need further details, feel free to contact us via email or phone at 0456 937 969.

1. OVERVIEW
The idea behind the event, is to provide girls either already involved in pinup or those who would like to get involved, the opportunity to showcase their fashion style to a public audience, and at the same time have the chance to take home one of three titles.

The intent is for the parade to be fun, inspiring, interesting and educational for the audience, and for the entrants to be able to “compete” in a light-hearted, enjoyable environment, at the same time socialising with like-minded friends.

The parade will be staged at the British Hotel, 13 North Parade, Port Adelaide between 1:30 and 2:30PM on Sunday 24th February 2019 as part of the Port Rocks festival.

The festival is an open public event, and family friendly, so outfits worn by the models are to be respectful of that fact. Further information is provided later in this document.

2. ENTRY COST
Entry to this parade is absolutely free of charge.

3. ENTRY CRITERIA
This parade is open to women and girls of all ages, although entrants 16 and under will require the permission of a parent or guardian, who will also need to be present on the day of the event.

The parade is being staged as part of a licenced event, and the normal liquor service laws will be applied at all times.

4. JUDGING

GENERAL INFORMATION

Entrants will only need a single outfit, and are responsible for their own hair and makeup arrangements.

Each entrant will be asked to parade and demonstrate at least two poses for the audience, and may use small props (umbrellas, bags etc.) to enhance the “look”.

Outfits are expected to reflect the appropriate era, and should be formal or day-wear styles.

Tasteful outfits are mandatory, and swimwear or lingerie are not acceptable for this event, due to the family friendly nature of the festival.

Judges will be looking at the overall presentation, poise and confidence of the model, as well as compliance with the guidelines for each of the three categories, and awarding points for each component.

Contestants can only nominate for one category.

1) Modern Pinup
This category focusses on rockabilly style, with outfits typically being modern interpretations of 1940's and 1950's fashion.

Tattoos are expected to form part of the styling for this category, but will not be the focus of judging.

Hair and makeup should also be a modern take on the era of the fashions being worn.

2) Classic Pinup
This category is about replicating authentic looks using original or reproduction fashions from the 1940’s through 1960’s.

Attention to detail is the key in this category, and judges will look carefully at all aspects of model’s outfit, including hair and makeup.

Entrants for this category should have no visible tattoos.

3) Junior Miss Pinup (Under 15 Years Old)

This category is about replicating authentic looks using reproduction of fashions and styles from the 1930’s through 1970’s.

Attention to detail is the key in this category, props are allowed to complete the “look”.

5. AWARDS
Awards will be presented for each category.

6. HOW TO ENTER
Simply complete the registration form, before midnight on Sunday 17th February 2019.

Further information on the schedule for the day will be provided the week before the event.
