Description

Community Transition Support (CTS) 2019 Conference will be held at the Moonee Valley Race Club, Wednesday 5 June 2019.

The CTS 2019 Conference will explore how schools and their communities can work together to improve post-school outcomes for young people with disabilities.

The day will be themed around innovation, advocacy and forming positive expectations of what young people with disabilities can achieve.

Hear from speakers; Bernadette Gigliotti – CEO CEAV Institute, Dr Joanne Webber – Disability Inclusion, Zita Pinta and Peter Kellock – INLLEN, Stefanie Dimov – Project Coordinator, Melbourne University (more to be confirmed).

Presentations and workshops will cover;

  • Career development- preparing school leavers for the employment landscape of tomorrow.
  • Inclusion & Advocacy - Breaking barriers for meaningful pathways. Working together to understand where we’ve come from and where we want to get to as a sector
  • Results of the 2018 Data Collection & Research projects - Using the data and research to find the story. What does it highlight about successes and how can it drive improvement in schools?
  • Explore examples of good practice within local schools and communities
  • Reflect on what has been a challenging period for disability
  • Better understand the implications of NDIS policy and current practice
  • Share experiences and engage with local NDS’s disability employment specialists.

The conference program will include a panel discussion;

How do we increase the future employment opportunities for both open employment and voluntary work of young people with disabilities and how can they obtain and sustain long-term meaningful work





Who should attend?

The 2019 Conference is aimed at schools. Ideally, a school should send a team of people who support young people to make successful post-school transitions.

  • Wellbeing coordinators

Other organisations are welcome to attend, especially those interested in entering into a partnership with a specialist school.
