Event description

Description

Tourism Industry Council Tasmania (TICT) and the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) invite CVS Licensed Operators and all tourism operators working in and around Tasmania’s World Heritage Areas, National Parks and Crown Lands, to the 2018 Parks 21 Forum and TICT’s 2nd Annual Tourism and the Environment Networking Luncheon.

Our annual Parks 21 Forum is the must-do industry event for all tourism operators working within Tasmania’s conservation areas. Meet and network with fellow nature tourism operators, hear the latest information and updates from PWS and gain some insights and inspiration from special guest speakers.

Our Tourism and the Environment Luncheon is a chance to network with other nature tourism operators and consider ways tourism can contribute positively to nature conservation with a speaker from the environmental sector.

This year we’re bringing both events right into the corridors of power!

2018 Parks 21 Forum
9 am – 12.30 pm
Premier’s Reception Room
Executive Building, 15 Murray Street Hobart

Premier – and new Parks Minister – Will Hodgman has kindly made available his reception room to host our 2018 Parks 21 Forum.

The Premier will open the forum, before an update from Jason Jacobi (GM of PWS) on Parks projects, infrastructure investment and answer any questions about licensing and access.

We will also hear a key note address from Michelle Bain – developer of South Australia’s Award-winning Yondah Beach House, one of the country’s most celebrated sustainable tourism products. Michelle is also a branding and interpretation guru and board member of Ecotourism Australia, bringing together a unique mix of tourism and business insights.

The full program for our Parks 21 Forum will be released in August.

Forum includes Morning Tea.

TICTs 2nd Annual ‘Tourism and the Environment’ Networking Luncheon
1 – 2.30pm
Reception Room
Parliament House, Hobart

Following our Parks 21 Forum, we’ll be popping just across the road for our second annual ‘Tourism and the Environment’ Luncheon - to be held in Parliament House!

This is a rare and unique opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of Parliament’s historic Reception Room, while networking with fellow ecotourism operators from across Tasmania.

This year’s luncheon will be addressed by James Hattam – the new CEO of the Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC).

The TLC is a not-for-profit, apolitical, science and community-based organisation that raises funds from the public to protect irreplaceable sites and rare ecosystems by buying and managing private land in Tasmania.

From humble beginnings in 2001, TLC has grown to become one of Tasmania’s largest private landowners, working in nature conservation projects across more than 65,000 hectares of land in Tasmania, including King Island.

James will share the TLC’s vision and explore the opportunities for the tourism industry to collaborate and support the TLC in its vision for Tasmania to be a global leader in nature conservation and sustainability.

Includes lunch and beverages.
