Event description

Description

Join us for the 2018 Climate Champion Awards Night at NSW Parliament.

The Climate Champion Awards recognise and celebrate people working on climate action in our community who are building the movement and advocating for change.

Two awards will be presented in 2018:

  • The ‘John Davis’ Climate Champion. Awarded to an individual who has shown selfless dedication to championing climate action through education, activism, or empowering others.

  • The Young Climate Champion. Awarded to an individual under 25 who has inspired others to become champions for climate action.

John Davis is a friend and long-time NSW Greens member who worked tirelessly and passionately as a climate activist and film-maker before his tragic death in 2015.

Last year we hosted a screening in NSW Parliament of John’s final project Coal: Is it Worth It and acknowledged John’s activism by awarding him the inaugural NSW Climate Champion.

We want to continue to honour John’s legacy by recognising outstanding contributions to the campaign against coal and coal seam gas mining in NSW and for a safe climate future.

There has never been a more critical time for climate action globally. The challenge will take all of us, working together, and it will need community champions with determination, innovation, strategy and heart. These are our climate champions.

Food and drinks are included.
