Description

On the 20th September 2017, the Assistant Minister to the Treasurer called for submissions regarding budget 2018-2019 priorities. With submissions closing late January, the question on everyone’s mind is what will this budget mean for families, individuals, business and community groups. In the past year, there has been an immense underlying focus on the economic standing of Australia and has been highlighted as a key issue, above Government and Politics and even Environmental and Social issues.

The 2017-2018 budget saw a focus on stronger growth to deliver more jobs and better-paying jobs, guaranteeing more of the essential service that Australians rely on, tackling the cost of living pressures and ensuring the Government is living within its means, and so far it is looking like the 2018-2019 Federal Budget will reflect similar themes.

Key themes identified as possibilities for the new budget include combatting Unemployment, Monetary and Fiscal Issues, Housing Affordability, the Cost of Living and Inflation. The 2018 budget will also review key themes of 2017, from Tax cuts for SMEs, 457 Visas, spending on infrastructure and industry-specific implications. We can see that these issues are not unlike that of the previous financial year, leading us to believe that Australia is in for a long haul focus on these key issues. Looking at these economic factors together, growth seems to be the underlying consideration and even more so the management of growth in Australia.

The Bentleys (WA) team will provide their insights into how this budget will affect you and your business – will the budget bring a year of prosperity or peril?

  • Drinks and light refreshements will be provided after the session
