Event Details

Mr Kerry O’Brien, one of Australia’s most distinguished and respected journalists, will be delivering this year’s lecture and will draw on the 30th anniversary of the Fitzgerald Inquiry as an opportunity to revisit some of the lessons learnt over the past three decades around open government, including the media’s role.

Openness, transparency and accountability, can at times, test any government but the benefits and community expectations are indisputable. Government media relations are vital as it sits at the interface between the executive and journalism, two of the fundamental institutions in a modern democratic society.

The event’s Master of Ceremonies will be well known journalist and media personality, Ms Madonna King. Ms King will also lead a panel discussion involving Mr Kerry O’Brien, Dr David Solomon AM, Professor Peter Coaldrake and Ms Alison Sandy.
