Description

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the 2017 PLuS Alliance Address to hear academics from UNSW Sydney, King's College London and Arizona State University speak on one of society’s most global and pressing challenges: the refugee and migrant crisis.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Satvinder Juss, King’s College London, who will speak on: 'Who is a refugee and what is refugee law for? What role does religion play in the reception of refugees? And, what does this tell us of social justice in our communities today?'
  • Professor David Sanderson, UNSW Sydney, who will speak on: 'How forced migration is urbanising. Globally, the majority of those forced to flee conflict and persecution don’t live in refugee camps, but in towns and cities. What does this mean for humanitarian response, and how can aid adapt to the new urban reality?'
  • Dr. Jacqueline Wernimont, Arizona State University, who will speak on: 'Mobility and Belonging.'

The evening will conclude with a drinks reception, where light refreshments will be served and you will have the opportunity to network with alumni and senior leadership from King's College London, UNSW Sydney and Arizona State University.
