Please find below information for your consideration.
Travel Arrangements and getting to Hamilton Island:
Virgin Australia and Jetstar fly direct to Hamilton Island from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Qantas also operates from Sydney and Qantas-link from Cairns. We suggest you make arrangements for your travels to Hamilton Island as your arrival onto the island is important to not only us but the Island. Please see below in that regard.
If you are travelling by car, please make arrangements for your car to be placed in the secure car accommodation.
We have been able to secure a corporate rate for delegates and their partners on the ferry operated by Cruise Whitsundays to Hamilton Island. To obtain this rate ($51.00 each way per person) when contacting Cruise Whitsundays to book your ferry you must provide to them the promotion code which is NQLA17. If you do not mention this code you will not receive the discount. You can contact Cruise Whitsundays on (07)48467000 and look at their website for more information:http://www.cruisewhitsundays.com/ .
Please note Cruise Whitsundays has also moved to the Port of Airlie Beach.
Ground Transfer Details:
On your arrival at either Hamilton Island Marina or Hamilton Island Airport and after collecting your luggage, please make your way to the exit where you will see a committee member from the North Queensland Law Association. They will provide you with your delegate bag and information in relation to the conference. You will be hearing from us about 3 weeks before the conference. We will ask you to email and tell us your arrival time.
From here you will board a Hamilton Island coach for a short transfer to your accommodation. Transfers and coaches provided depend upon your accommodation type. You will see when booking accommodation at the Reef View Hotel (see below) that you are required to provide to the Island information in relation to your departure and arrival on the Island. This is also for the purposes of ascertaining your collection and drop off.
Accommodation & Buggy:
There is an array of accommodation on Hamilton Island.
The NQLA has been able to negotiate a discounted rate for delegates and speakers at the Reef View Hotel. The Reef View Hotel represents the ultimate in 4 star resort living. The Reef View Hotel overlooks Catseye Beach and is central to all conference venues including the Yacht Club. Most accommodation is resort side (where the Reef View Hotel is) so it will be a short walk to the Yacht Club which is the Marina side of the Island.
Click here to download the booking accommodation form, where you are required to complete your details and send the document via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We encourage delegates to extend their stay on the Island, to take account of the discounted rate.
Even if you are choosing to stay elsewhere we suggest you contact Hamilton Island via email to email@example.com and advise that you are part of the North Queensland Law Association Conference. We are sure Hamilton Island will help you find accommodation suitable to your needs.
Breakfast at the Reef View Hotel is also being provided to delegates at a reduced rate. Refer to the accommodation booking form in that respect. Please remember that breakfast will be provided as part of your registration on Saturday 30 May 2015 when a SEAPD breakfast by the water session will be held. When & Where
North Queensland Law Association
The North Queensland Law Association was formed on 25 January 1959. The Chairman of their inaugural meeting was Mr W J Gillman who later became the first President of the Association. The North Queensland Law Association was the first Regional District Law Association outside of a major capital city and since its formation has continued to be one of the most active District Law Associations in Queensland.
One of the main functions of the North Queensland Law Association is to organise an annual conference which alternates between Mackay, Townsville and Cairns each year. Each year, the elected President of the Association generally practices in the district where the conference will be held.
