Abstract: The introduction of driverless cars will bring about dramatic changes to road use and transportation. However, driverless cars will also bring legal, ethical and social challenges. This research symposium brings together leading national experts to analyse these challenges. Do we need to reform Australian laws to allow for the use of driverless cars on public roads? How can we achieve a harmonised national approach to the laws in this area? Who will be able to access the data created by driverless cars? How will the introduction of driverless cars affect governments, insurers, motorists and consumers?
