A program from beginners to intermediate. This course aims to equip participants with a good knowledge of various drawing media and shading techniques while incorporating perspective, design, balance and cohesion. It encourages and helps you to develop your own unique drawing style. Emphasis will be on light & dark balance, creating depth, design and overall composition.
Understanding and experimenting with different drawing tools and techniques. Understanding how they are applied and what effects can be achieved with pencil, charcoal, crayon, conte, chalk, felt tip pen and twigs in ink on paper.
Looking at different styles of drawing such as fluid line drawing and broken line drawing, detailed work and simple creations. Help in finding the simplicity in the subject as well as the detail. Students to bring in their own subject material.
Shading and Shadows: Creating shadows by simply applying pressure on the pencil then trying out different shading styles on paper. Experiment using only black and white colours on grey paper. Create ‘shadow only’ drawings.
Class discussion on what appeals to you in your picture and how to make this the focus of your drawing. Learn how to create depth in the work.
Understanding basic perspective. Commencing your own special drawing on paper or canvas. Creating backgrounds for modern or abstract work. Adding colour.
Assistance with composition and design to create a well- balanced and exciting artwork.
