The Canberra Branch AGM will be held on Tuesday 10 November 2015.
Agenda will include:
- Introduction and Apologies
- Review of the Minutes of the 2014 AGM
- Chairman’s Report
- Treasurer’s Report
- Election of Committee for 2016
- Any Other Business
Minutes for 2014 AGM, Audited Financial Statement for 2014-15, 2015 Chairman’s Report and 2015 Treasurer's Report are posted at http://www.raes.org.au/raes-australia/canberrabranch/. Please note that any motions to be put at the AGM must be notified to the Secretary beforehand. Business of the AGM will be brief.
Following formal business, two post-graduate students will describe their research in very different fields of aeronautics. Rosemary Barnes will tell us about her work on the structural design of wind turbine blades. Christopher Kennell is investigating the dynamic response in hypersonic wind tunnels of 3D printed sub-scale models of vehicles. Models are un-tethered and free to 'fly' in the test flow. Wireless on-board instrumentation 2 (accelerometers/gyroscopes) measure the movement of the model. This data along with high speed video footage is used to assess stability and gain insight into the dynamic behaviour of the full size vehicle.
Before the presentation please meet colleagues for refreshments in the Officers Mess. After the AGM, traditionally the Committee and its new members take our speakers to dinner at the Australian Pizza Kitchen on London Circuit. Others are very welcome to join us.
