About this Event
In Greece, throughout her history, has always reflected the changing social and political context. This concert brings to the audience songs and music from different periods of Hellenic history - from the Revolution and the War of Independence in the early 19th century, through to the modern era, and includes music from Smyrna and Rebetika song. The concert is presented by the Newtown Performing Arts High School orchestra conducted by Emlyn Lewis-Jones, with orchestrations by George Doukas, and with Dimitris Basis as guest vocalist.
