Templates

In addition to the e-book, you will receive numerous templates to help you along your exhibition development journey! The templates were designed on the basis of documentation collected by the research assistants and they are consistent with information provided by museums. Some museums might see similarities to their own templates and this is a positive outcome, as museums use standard forms, sequence of information and wording across many documents. The aim of these templates is to allow small museums and galleries to have a one-stop access to documentation and examples that meet good museum practice.

The templates are provided in MS Word format, as they are intended to be working documents. You can simply work from them and amend to your museum’s specifications, rather than have to print off and re-type each form.

Two examples have been included – these are widely used by the sector. It is important to note and be aware that the National Gallery of Australia is currently working on developing a national Standard Facilities Report Form, which will take into consideration the needs of smaller museums and eventually override the two examples provided.

All situations are different. Contracts and other documents have legal applications so make sure you get appropriate advice so that they are suited to the needs of your museum.
